    Dr. Arash Momeni and his co-authors have received the best paper award for their manuscript “A Matched-Pair Analysis of Prepectoral with Subpectoral Breast Reconstruction” from Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

    Department Chair Dr. Mary Hawn has been elected vice president of the Halsted Society. Hawn will ascend to the presidency in September 2021.

    Dr. Alex Sox-Harris has received a $1.1 million grant from the VA's Health Services Research & Development Service for his project entitled "Addressing the Gap in Feasible, Valid, and Important Quality Measures for the Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome."

    TECI Receives SRS Research Grant

    The Technology Enabled Clinical Improvement Center (TECI) has received a grant from the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS). The 2-year, $50,000 award will fund their project entitled "Leveraging Embedded Haptic Sensor Technology for Force Vector Mapping in Orthoses for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis."

    GenSurg Receives 2 COVID Research Grants

    The Division of General Surgery has received two Stanford RISE COVID-19 Crisis Response Faculty Seed Grants. Dr. Kristan Staudenmayer has received funding to create and study a database of aggregate COVID-19 data and Dr. David Spain has received funds for his project looking the disease's relationship to mental health.

    MIS Fellow Dr. Yewande Alimi has received the Hilary Sanfey Outstanding Resident Award from the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) Foundation.

    Cardinal Lead New AAST Associate Member Council

    Two members of the Stanford Surgery community have been elected to the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma's (AAST) new Associate Member Council. Dr. Lisa M. Knowlton, an assistant professor in the Division of General Surgery, has been named the inaugural president of the council while General Surgery Resident Dr. Kovi Bessoff will chair the Scholarship, Awards and Development Committee.
