Dr. Baiu Finalist for ACS Teaching Award

August 28, 2020

Dr. Ioana Baiu was a top 10 finalist for the American College of Surgeons (ACS) 2020 Resident Award for Exemplary Teaching. The award, sponsored by the ACS Division of Education, is given each year "in recognition of excellence in teaching by a resident and to emphasize teaching as an important area in residents’ daily lives."

"Dr. Baiu is not only a skilled surgeon and productive scholar but also a thoughtful and generous teacher who cares for her patients, students and colleagues. More importantly, she turns caring and teaching into tangible actions to help them,” said General Surgery Residency Program Director Dr. David Spain.

Baiu is a chief resident in the Division of General Surgery. She received the Arnold P. Gold Foundation's Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award from Stanford's School of Medicine in 2018 and elected into the AOA in 2020.
