Dr. Momeni Receives Godina Award

February 10, 2023

Dr. Arash Momeni received the Godina Fellowship Award from the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM). The award allows one "deserving individual" to visit microsurgical centers in the US and abroad over the next year.

“As a microsurgeon, receiving the Godina Award is perhaps the greatest honor I can think of. I am truly humbled by being selected the 2023 Godina Fellow," said Momeni.

Momeni says he plans to focus on post-oncologic reconstruction and will visit centers such as MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering.

"I will use this award to share work we do at Stanford, learn what our peers do elsewhere, and form collaborations to further strengthen our research footprint," said Momeni.

The award is named after Dr. Marko Godina, a pioneer in microsurgery for complex lower extremity defects. Although his life was cut short—at only age 43—Godina's work significantly improved limb salvage.

Momeni's fellowship will culminate with the Godina Lecture, which he will present at the ASRM Annual Meeting in January 24.

Dr. Momeni is an assistant professor and Director of Clinical Outcomes Research in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
