August 5, 2021

Vascular Surgeon Dr. Elsie Ross has been selected to receive a 2021 Clinical Scientist Development Award (CSDA) from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. The $495,000 of funding over three years will support the work described in her proposal: "The application of deep learning for automated vascular imaging analysis."

"This is such a wonderful recognition of the impact and level of [Dr. Ross's] research!" said Department Chair Dr. Mary Hawn.

The foundation received 254 applications – more than any year before. According to Sindy Escobar Alvarez, PhD, the success rate for this year's competition was 7% of all reviewed applications.
