Stanford Receives CZI Grant to Study Vascular Disease

A team of three StanfordMed researchers was awarded a grant from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI). Drs. Joseph Woo (Lead), Elsie Gyang Ross, and Philip Tsao received $525,000 in funding to study vascular disease in diverse populations.

According to the project summary: "the team will examine samples from inflammatory vascular disease patients and utilize single-cell analysis to understand whether the presence or response of specific immune cells varies among individuals of different ancestry."

This project is part of a $14M program consisting of 29 interdisciplinary teams researching the role of inflammation in disease over the next two years.
