"Together, Drs. Cheng and Shelton will partner closely with perioperative and interventional leadership to strengthen access, quality, efficiency, and collaboration across Palo Alto Perioperative service," wrote Wald.

Department Chair Dr. Mary Hawn offered her congratulations to Shelton for taking on this inaugural role.

"It is a wonderful step forward in increasing the surgeons voice in leadership of our ORs," wrote Hawn.
