Dr. Pham to Assume Directorship of the Medical Student Surgery Clerkship

Dr. Tom Pham, an assistant professor in the Division of Abdominal Transplantation, will assume the Directorship of the Medical Student Surgery Clerkship.

"Dr. Pham is an enthusiastic and effective educator and has implemented a highly regarded curriculum for trainees and students for the transplant service," said Department Chair Dr. Mary Hawn in an announcement to faculty. "I know he will do a great job of continuing the wonderful work by Dr. Jim Lau on behalf of our students."

Lau, who has served in the position since 2011, will leave Stanford at the end of August to join the faculty at Loyola University in Chicago. He will serve as the Vice Chair of Education and Chief of Division of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery.

"We are truly grateful for all his service to students, trainees, patients, the Department of Surgery and the School of Medicine. Dr. Lau will be leaving a great legacy at Stanford and will be missed!" said Hawn.
