Dr. Usman Ahmad was awarded a $50K intramural grant from Sarafan ChEM-H for his proposal: “Assessing Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Intratumoral Microbiome to Develop a Biomarker Predictive of Long-term Outcomes and Response to Chemotherapy.”

Dr. Cindy Kin has been promoted to Associate Professor effective January 1, 2023. Dr. Kin is a colorectal specialist in the Division of General Surgery.

Dr. Allison Hu, a PHY2 in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program, won the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS) Go Best Paper Award in the Gender-Affirming Surgery Category at the society's annual meeting in Boston this past weekend. Her paper was titled: Facial Feminization Surgery Under Insurance: The University of California Los Angeles Experience."

Michael Januszyk, MD, PhD has been promoted to the rank of Instructor in Surgery in the School of Medicine effective December 1, 2022. Dr. Janusyyk is a biomedical informatics specialist in the Longaker Lab.

Drs. John Gahagan and Cara Liebert have joined the General Surgery Residency Program's leadership team as Associate Program Directors (APDs).
