Dr. Longaker Receives ASA Medallion for Scientific Achievement

Dr. Michael Longaker has received the Medallion for Scientific Achievement. The medallion is the highest honor bestowed by the American Surgical Association (ASA). According to the ASA website, the award is not given on a yearly basis, but only when a "worthy recipient" is nominated, and it given to recognize a career-long dedication to important, innovative, and seminal scientific contributions to the field of surgery.

Dr. Longaker is the senior scientist behind research related to scarless wound healing. To date, he has published over 1300 publications and has numerous federal grants to support his research.

Dr. Longaker is a professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery, Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery, and Co-Director of the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine.
