Kirane to Serve as Vice Chair on AAI’s Committee on the Status of Women

Dr. Amanda Kirane will serve as the new Vice Chair on the Committee on the Status of Women (CSOW) for the American Association of Immunologists (AAI), effective today.
According to AAI President-Elect Uli von Andrian, “the CSOW is dedicated to enhancing career opportunities that advance the involvement and recognition of women immunologists in the scientific community.” The committee consists of nine members, who are appointed by Council on staggered three-year terms. Kirane began her term on the CSOW in 2024.
Kirane is an assistant professor in Stanford’s Division of General Surgery Surgical Oncology section. Additionally, she has a PhD in Immunology from UC Davis. Her research focuses on melanoma and mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy.
