Chan Lab Receives Stinehart-Reed Award

April 22, 2022

Dr. Chuck Chan's lab has received a Stinehard-Reed Award. The $200k grant ($100K per year over two years) will fund their project: Nike Knees for Man and Man’s Best Friend. Rejuvenating and Regenerating Articular Cartilage by Engineering the Skeletal Stem Cell Niche In Situ.

Our team is also extremely grateful to the Reed Stinehart foundation for funding our project," said Dr. Chan. "We plan to apply this award towards extending our ongoing investigations into the stem cell basis of skeletal and hematopoietic aging as well as testing our cartilagenic scaffolds in a small clinical trial for osteoarthritic canine patients, which if successful may also lead to future clinical trials for human patients."

Every two years the 30 members of the Stem Cell Institute submit grants for a 2-year Stinehart-Reed Award. Only 5 are awarded.
