January 29, 2020

Dr. Kovi Bessoff, a resident in the Division of General Surgery, has received a Stanford Global Health Seed Grant. Dr. Bessoff submitted the proposal with help from Dr. Faith Muchemwa from Parirenyatwa Hospital in Zimbabwe and Dr. Mike Snyder from Stanford's Department of Genetics. They will receive almost $50,000 to fund their project, "The Cutaneous Microbiome in Burn Patients: A Novel Source of Diagnostics and Therapeutics," over the next year.

"This grant is a direct product of the international rotation that I was able to take part in in August, and it serves to illustrate the importance and value of these opportunities," said Dr. Bessoff. "I would like to thank Dr. Wren again for helping to facilitate my time in Zimbabwe."
