Drs. Martinez, Wan Named J&J Professors

April 25, 2022

Drs. Olivia Martinez and Derrick Wan have been named Johnson and Johnson Distinguished Professors of Surgery.

"[These faculty] were selected due to their incredible contributions to their fields: Dr. Wan in understanding and improving the care of radiation-induced fibrosis and Dr. Martinez in advancing the field of transplant immunology," said Department Chair Dr. Mary Hawn. "We are so fortunate and proud to have these amazing scientific leaders on our faculty."

Dr. Martinez is Director of Immunology at Stanford and Vice Chair for Basic and Translational Research for the Department of Surgery. In addition to being a professor in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Wan is Director of Maxillofacial Surgery at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and the Hagey Family Faculty Scholar in Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine.

As an endowed chair, both professors will receive additional salary support as well as funding for research, travel, "and other expenses related to the teaching and research of the Johnson & Johnson Professor."
