Dr. Liebert Receives AVAS Visiting Professorship Award

Dr. Cara Liebert is the recipient of the Association of VA Surgeons (AVAS) Visiting Professorship Award for 2024-2025. During the coming academic year, the Portland VA in Portland, OR will host Liebert, and she will present Grand Rounds at Oregon Health & Science University.
In the letter of notification, AVAS Diversity & Inclusion Committee Chair Dr. Olamide Alabi and AVAS President Dr. Danny Chu wrote, “Your academic accomplishments and proposed plan for professorship were excellent and we are delighted to sponsor this award.”
Dr. Liebert is a clinical assistant professor specializing in minimally invasive surgery. She is Associate Program Director for Stanford’s General Surgery Residency Program and Associate Program Director for the VA Palo Alto’s Advanced GI/MIS Fellowship.
Award were also presented to Dr. Kristy Broman (hosted by VA Loma Linda), Dr. Sridevi Maddineni (hosted by VA Boston) and Dr. Katherine Hekman (hosted by the N. Florida /S. Georgia VA Health System).
