Two Residents Named 2026 Li Ka Shing Scholars

May 5, 2026

Two surgical residents have been named Li Ka Shing Scholars for the 2026 academic year. Dr. Keyuree Satam, a vascular surgery resident, and Dr. Camille Hironaka will both receive funding to pursue master’s degrees during their professional development time, which starts this summer.

Satam will enroll in Stanford’s Master of Science in Translational Research and Applied Medicine Program.

“I aim to pair my proposed research with Dr. [Nazish] Sayed on endothelial dysfunction in genetic aortopathies with translational training to advance novel therapies from discovery to clinical application,” said Satam.

"I can’t wait to hear about all you learn during your PD years,” said Vascular Division Chief Dr. Jason Lee. “Thanks so much to the department for the support and investing in our bright future research stars"

Hironaka will enroll in Stanford’s Master's in Health Policy Program.

“I plan to use the methodologies and foundational knowledge from the Master's program to study the effects of insurance networks on outcomes for complex surgical oncology patients,” said Hironaka.

Department Chair Dr. Mary Hawn congratulated both recipients.

“I’m excited to watch how you use your skills to enhance your scholarship,” she said.
