Dr. Jopling Receives Teaching Award

July 22, 2020

Dr. Jeff Jopling has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2019-20 Arnold P. Gold "Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award." The Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes outstanding humanistic teaching residents as identified by our clinical medical students based on their exceptional teaching skills and commitment to the compassionate treatment of patients and families, students, and colleagues.

One student wrote:

"Dr. Jopling is one of the most inspiring physicians I've ever met, and one of the best educators. His way of advising, comforting, supporting, and informing his patients serves as a model of exactly how I'd like to communicate with patients one day. He is an incredible role model in many ways, but one of the more surprising ways is that he demonstrates how to be an adaptable learner. As a resident, he takes criticism with an extremely positive attitude, and adapts to feedback in real-time, which is something most med students and residents aspire toward."

Jopling completed his surgical residency this past May and is now Stanford's Surgical Critical Care Fellow.
