Dr. Hauser is ACLM President-Elect

September 17, 2024

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) announced Monday that Dr. Michelle Hauser will ascend to the office of President Elect at their annual meeting in October. This appointment is a six-year term: two years as president-elect, two years as president, and two years as immediate past-president. She succeeds Dr. Padmaja Patel of Midland Health in Texas.

“While president-elect, I will serve on the board of directors, continue my committee role on the research committee, and will re-launch a new, updated version of the Culinary Medicine Curriculum,” said Hauser. “I will also be learning the ropes in terms of presidential duties.”

In 2019, Hauser and ACLM published the first, open-access, culinary medicine curriculum.

“This was the first time a practical, culinary approach to nutrition and dietary change for health improvement was available for free to the public,” said Hauser. The new edition includes more than 100 free videos on the cooking techniques and recipes that were previously only written.

“I can think of no one better to lead ACLM!” said Stanford Surgery Director of Wellness Dr. Cindy Kin. “This is so well-deserved as she has worked so tirelessly in her career to bring lifestyle medicine into our patients' lives, the healthcare system, and medical education.”

“While president, I aim to focus on growing the organization and especially expanding access to medically underserved patients to lifestyle medicine and lifestyle-related therapies,” said Hauser.

Hauser is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of General Surgery’s MIS/Bariatric Surgery Section and Obesity Medicine Director of the Medical Weight Loss Program in the Stanford Lifestyle and Weight Management Center.
