Dr. Foster Receives SPARK Award

Dr. Deshka Foster, a resident in the Division of General Surgery, has been selected as a finalist for SPARK Translational Research Program funding this year. The award will provide $50,000 in research funds to support the next step in translation for the abdominal adhesions research Foster has been conducting in the Longaker Lab over the past several years.
Founded in 2006, the SPARK program helps advance academic biomedical research discoveries from bench to bedside.
This segment of Foster's project is a collaboration between Dr. Miachel Longaker of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Jeff Norton of the Division of General Surgery, Dr. Gerlinde Wernig from the Department of Pathology, and Drs. Leslee Subak and Deirdre Lum from the Department of obstetrics and gynecology.
