Dr. James Dunn has received an R01 from the NIH. The more than $350,000 grant will find his project "Spring Mediated Enterogenesis" for the next year.

"This grant will address how to repeatedly lengthen intestine in different size patients with short bowel syndrome," said Dunn, who is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery.

Dr. Dunn has been working on spring-mediated distraction enterogenesis since before he arrived at Stanford in 2017. His most recently published peer-reviewed research has focused on determining the minimal force needed to lengthen porcine small intestinal segments.
