General surgery resident Dr. Ioana Baiu has been named a Top 10 finalist for the American College of Surgeons Resident Award for Exemplary Teaching for the second year in a row.

"While a busy surgical residency, she completed the Stanford Clinical Teaching Course and received their Clinical Teaching Honors Certificate. She has been our elected representative to the Stanford Graduate Medical Education Committee since 2018. Last year, she was named Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief for Academic Medicine," wrote General Surgery Resident Program Director Dr. David Spain in his nomination to the selection committee.

Dr. Baiu created a curriculum for internal medicine residents on common general surgery topics and has authored more than 20 articles for the JAMA Patient Page, an educational tool aimed at the lay public.
