Dr. Arya Promoted to Professor

Dr. Shipra Arya has been promoted to Professor (conferring continuing term) of Surgery: Vascular Surgery in the UML effective November 1, 2022.

"Dr. Arya has made numerous impactful contributions to improving preoperative vascular surgical care, and her efforts towards determining frailty in our patients fits right in line with precision vascular surgery that strives for high-quality outcomes," said Division of Vascular Surgery Chief Dr. Jason Lee. "We look forward to many more years of leadership, scholarship, mentorship, and excellent clinical care. She is a wonderful role model to so many in our specialty."

Dr. Arya came to Stanford in 2017 and became Section Chief of Vascular Surgery at the VA Palo Alto a year later. She has been funded by American Heart Association, NIH/NIA GEMSSTAR, the VA Palo Alto Center for Innovation and Implementation (Ci2i), and is currently funded by VA HSR&D. She is the current Director of Quality for the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System and President of the Surgical Outcomes Club.

Dr. Arya did her medical education at All India Institute of Medical Sciences. She went on to complete her general surgery residency at Creighton University and her vascular fellowship at the University of Michigan She holds certifications from the American Board of Surgery, in both general and vascular surgery.
