March 1, 2022
Dr. Carlie Arbaugh was selected to receive support from the Center for Innovation in Global Health (CIGH) to participate in a clinical rotation with the Southcentral Foundation in Anchorage, Alaska. The Southcentral Foundation is a non-profit and part of the Indian Health Service.
"I am really passionate about working with underserved communities to address health disparities, and I have a particular interest in indigenous health," said Dr. Arbaugh. "In Anchorage, I'll be doing some work in general surgery/trauma as well as obstetrics/gynecology. I hope to broaden my skill set to prepare for providing medical care in lower resource settings."
Dr. Arbaugh is currently a General Surgery Resident in her third year of clinical work. The 3.5-week rotation will take start at the end of May.
