ACSCC24 Wangensteen Scientific Forum Dedicated to Dr. Hawn

Dr. Mary Hawn has been selected as the Dedicatee of the Owen H. Wangensteen Scientific Forum at 2024 ACS Clinical Congress. The forum will take place Saturday, October 19 through Tuesday, October 22 in San Francisco.
“It is such an amazing honor to have the Scientific Forum dedicated to me. The Scientific Forum is where our trainees and junior faculty often get their initial exposure to presenting and discussing papers. I had the privilege to serve on the Scientific Forum Committee for 10 years and saw first hand the nominees for this award,” said Hawn. “I am humbled to have been chosen for this incredible honor!”
Wagensteen founded the ACS scientific forum in 1947 “to provide an opportunity to the younger surgical group for the presentation of the results of original clinical and experimental research.” He also served as president of the college between 1959 and 1960.

Hawn will be recognized at the Clinical Congress Opening Ceremony and at the Scientific Forum-specific awards ceremony. The Scientific Forum supplement of JACS will be dedicated to her as well.
