100 years ago, Professor Emile Holman became the inaugural Chair of the Department of Surgery at Stanford University. The 1–10–100 fundraising campaign honors his legacy.

Each surgeon has had (at least) 10 trainers and mentors that have positively impacted their educational journey. For each $1,000 you donate, you will have the opportunity to honor a specific trainer or mentor who has been instrumental in developing your career. These dedications will be published in our newsletters and here on this webpage. Take the time to remember those who have helped you in the operating room, sponsored your research, and who may continue to be a guiding force in your life today. It takes so many people to train a surgeon. This will allow you to honor and thank a few of them.

We ask you to pledge $10,000 to enrich the education of our current residents, the surgical leaders of tomorrow. This pledge can be fulfilled through payments spread over five years. All of the funds raised will be placed in a division-specific account of your choosing. The funds may support a resident to go on an overseas service trip, offer a seed grant to a budding surgeon-scientist, or provide wellness activities for busy trainees.

This is a chance for us to give back and provide for the next generation of surgeons. By this initiative, we are honoring our past and providing for the future.
