Career Development Bootcamp

Thursday, October 31 & Friday, November 1, 2024

As a junior faculty member, starting an academic journey is simultaneously exciting and stressful. One proven strategy for success is to develop a structured career path early in the process.

Stanford Department of Surgery with support from Johnson & Johnson Corporation is hosting a Career Development Bootcamp for 15 graduating surgical fellows and subspecialty surgical chief residents who are about to embark on their academic journey.

Workshop Highlights

The goal of the Bootcamp is to provide surgical graduates with essential information as they matriculate to their first academic faculty appointment. The Bootcamp will cover a variety of topics including the job search process, establishing one’s clinical practice and research program, the role of academic teaching, how to identify and form collaborations as well as resolve conflicts, professional finances, advice on how to build diverse and inclusive teams, as well as work-life balance and wellness. We hope this comprehensive program will help new graduates ignite their academic careers.

Who Should Attend

This Bootcamp is intended for graduating surgical fellows and subspecialty surgical chief residents who are about to embark on their academic journey.

Cost

Out-of-town applicants will be provided two free nights of stay for the event near Stanford Campus, along with $600.00 to offset travel costs.
