Pride Parade

Since 2021, Stanford's Department of Surgery has hosted an annual Pride Parade on the Stanford University campus during the month of June. The transition started during the pandemic after San Francisco's parade was cancelled for the second year in a row. In 2022—although the SF parade returned—Stanford Surgery decided to continue hosting its on-campus event.

"Hosting the event on the Stanford University and Stanford Med campuses shows our community that we support LGBTQ+ rights," said Event Organizer and Stanford Surgery Staff Member Rachel Baker. "Having the event during the work week also allows staff and students, who may not have the resources to join the parade in the city on the weekend, the opportunity to participate."

In its fourth year, the parade was sponsored by the Departments of Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Pediatrics. The 2024 parade was also supported by the Office of Campus Engagement through a Campus Engagement Mini-Grant.

Planning for the 2025 Pride Parade will get started in January. If you or your organization would like to get involved, please email us!
