Carlos is a surgical resident at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
After completing high school, he entered a six-year program in Monterrey
Institute of Technology (ITESM) Medical School. During the last years
he became exposed to clinical research. He was captivated by the idea
of how we currently treat diseases in order to be able to propose new
treatment modalities and test their effectiveness. Upon completion of
medical school in 1999, he joined the Department of Gastroenterology
at the "Instituto Nacional de la Nutricion" in Mexico, the
premier center of medical care and research in the country, for a one-year
fellowship in clinical research. At the end of this fellowship he pursued
a Master of Public Health degree in Harvard University with emphasis
in clinical epidemiology.
