Venita
Chandra, MD
Venita was born in Tehran and after spending her early childhood in
the middle-east with her Indian father and Iranian mother, her family
moved to Edina, Minnesota. She grew up embracing this new culture, while
always remaining close to her Indian and Iranian heritage. At age 7,
she moved to Singapore, where she spent the next five years immersed
in the rich and diverse culture of Southeast Asia.
Venita returned to Minnesota for high school and then attended University
of Minnesota, majoring in genetics and cell biology. She worked briefly
in Northern California, and then returned to the Midwest where she attended
medical school at the University of Chicago. She quickly became excited
about surgery and was thrilled when she matched at Stanford for her general
surgery residency.
She is now a second year surgical resident. She is motivated and excited
by the progressive, inventive, and cooperative environment of Stanford,
and is truly looking forward to drawing on the best Stanford has to offer
by joining the Surgical Innovation team.
